Im an RT and just FYI, you can be unconscious and still breathing for a significant amount of time. It depends on why and how badly your brain is injured whether the signal still gets sent for you to breathe. Unconsciousness is more like you just not being alert and aware of your surroundings.

i cant stand when men are uncomfortable with male nudity in horror movies or give the movie a bad rating based on that. i was watching a review on in a violent nature and the first thing the (male) critic said was “WARNING- THERES FRONTAL MALE NUDITY- like, we don’t need to see that, ok?” but woman can be exploited continuously in horror?

i can’t stand when little kids giggles are meant to be scary. its been done to absolute death and it’s never been scary once

I think the short story "The Raft" from Stephen King would work as a movie. Of course, they would need the classic tired trope "for some reason, cell phones don't work", although they had to swim to the raft so unless you have a way to swim with Android, maybe that could pass. I see potential.

Creepy children, opening the mirror cabinet in bathroom or fridge door jump scare (especially if fake), screaming your head off while running from a killer (first, you can't run and scream you will get tired very fast, second: there is a killer chasing you, shut up and don'g give him instructions where you are!), music especially orchestra music in horrors: I can't focus on horror scene when I can't help but to imagine like violinist or piano player or the whole freaking orchestra in the background playing! It takes a lot of the reality of scene. I know a lot of people feel like music adds to the scene but for me it takes all reality of the scene. There is someone playing the music instrument near this scene, it does not feel realistic anymore.

More rants! Always more rants! 🙌🏼 This is more annoying than icky, but the overuse of "fuck" to make dialogue seem more intense (in serious scenes, not comedic ones). As much as I fucking loved True Detective: Night Country, they fucked up by forcing too many fucks into the motherfucking dialogue (joking aside, I really did love Issa Lopez's vision for the season). I feel like this also happens often with movies/series that center on a group of kid characters and the writers think that the kids won't seem distressed, scared, or angry enough unless each line is emphasized by "fuck." Just seems forced. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ruining the…. legacy characters… YES! I’m sick of them doing this, because it’s a slap in the face.

My biggest ick not with just horror movies but with A LOT of media is when they need a man to be seen as despicable or irredeemable or hell even just a bad guy, they ALWAYS MAKE HIM A RAPIST. Like look ik theyre out there but it just seems like an extremely lazy ass writing trope to tell us "look hes irredeemable". They literally would have no other character trait than oh im a rapist. It feels like a cheap shortcut in writing so that they don't have to spend time on characterization on Why and How this character is so fucking evil 🤦🏽‍♂️ Its just so damn boring

My biggest 3 Icks: 1. The final shot of the protagonist sitting on the back of an ambulance wrapped in a blanket being comforted, 2. When the main characters start off low affect/low energy and stay that way throughout the film, no matter how high or low the stakes (to make them seem "wise" "complex" or "deep"?) and 3. When characters have tears in their eyes the *entire* film.

In regards to “Firestarter,” I actually think it was the perfect horror movie to remake! It’s a bad movie no one cares about. Why not take a chance to make it incredible and surprise everybody?? Unfortunately it was made by people who are terrible at making movies 🫤

I know this video is old at this point but Jaws. I hate that movie. I have tried to give it a chance multiple times and every single time I'm bored and regretting my choices. I will never understand the love for Jaws.

I will say this. Regarding editing of trailers that are showing action, I can see incorporating the action as percussion in music for the trailer. But it has to be done well. Like if they did that with a fight scene from an action movie or something like that, since fight scenes are already so choreographed that they border on dances anyway. Even in the shooting scenes for some movies, it can work well. Horror, it’s harder to do that well, but it’s rare that you see it done well.

i get completely taken out of horror movies when the protagonist(s), typically teens, have school, jobs, parents, etc, but then they basically go off the grid for like a week and that’s it. like in It Follows… y’all are children??? why are you all wandering around detroit for days at a time?

The 30 min knockout reminds of this scene in the book Kill Creek where a character falls from a pretty decent height and hardcore breaks their ankle but then a couple minutes later they’re walking on it. With the kind of break involved, it ain’t about fighting through the pain, that ankle physically could not take weight. It so took me out of the story. My ick though (which I guess is more of a story trope I hate) is the “people are the real monsters” story. It’s a great trope the first couple times you encounter it but it gets old fast. Like when it became the “twist” in every season of the Walking Dead.

Carrie, the actress is beautiful but she has freckles that now are trendy but most people were bullied before (my mom told me) and in the 80s people had that crazy hair while Carrie here has her hair down even in her face like she wants to hide herself, and her clothes is more "conservative" even in a school environment the rest use more trendy clothes while she is in long skirt and long dresses that don't show so much, this with her awkward demeanor and introvertness does it for me.

Don't worry, it's perfectly valid to be scared of AI. I don't think it's a "boomer thing" at all. Like, some people are literally using it to make deep fake p*rn of celebrities. And you don't even need to be a famous celebrity for people to be able to do that to you. As long as you have enough pictures or video footage of yourself available publicly on the internet, people can make deep fake videos of you! It's dystopian as hell.

I'm happy to be back on your channel. I fell into a state of psychosis and in recovery I learned it was best to go completely horror free. I'm in recovery and watching your videos is a good dose of horror movies without actually watching them. Thank you ❤

Inbred Mutant Mongoloids are soooo played out, yet movies like Barbarian somehow still get away with it. And I understand that the unique aspect of that film is the dramatic u-turn and subversion of expectations… but at the end of the day, it was just another inbred mutant mongoloid movie that borrowed plot points & themes from much better movies like Martyrs 🤷‍♀️

This was great. Acting, directing, sound all the things. Shots were beautiful and terrifying. I was not expecting such a good movie in 2024.

I will agree with you about the naked old people and the startling movement and loud noises, both dumb and completely unnecessary. I don't really watch r-word revenge stuff so I can't really say, but a thing that was certainly a big problem in the past was the close-up lingering over women's bodies. Ick.

Stephen King definitely sometimes suffers from polylalia.. I remember reading IT, and 50-odd pages were devoted to Stan Uris’s wife and her inner thoughts, just before he… exits the story forever. Mystifying!

One of my icks is the "creepy little kid" trope mostly bc the child actor rarely is good enough to make it work.

I'm kind of laughing at the trailer edits to beats because I used to make fanvids in the early 2000s & making clean cuts/transitions right on a beat was such a point of pride for me. With that background, tho, I can also see how that editting makes some trailers cringe or just too slick in glossing over or presenting content in a trailer. I'm the same with pretty much all of these icks. Birdstrike is a little too specific, for me it's those loud noises in general meant to startle the audience rather than be part of the story. Please, just give me a tense, scary atmosphere & let the moment scare me. If you know your story is so bland viewers have started scrolling on their phone & you need a deafening noise to get their eyes back up, just rethink your story ideas & presentation altogether. Also, unrealistic injuries in general ick & anger me like Scream 5 did, especially with Chad. Hated it. The best horror gives plot armor to NO ONE. I'll overlook some if other elements are good enough, but I quit the Scream franchise with Chad's stupid thumbs up at the end. (I say that but know I'll eventually watch the others, but still haven't seen 6 & feel no void in my horror experience.)

I definitely agree with the first one just as a matter of basic continuity. It isn’t even a horror movie but something that gets this aspect right is the TV show Barry, where something really bad happens with Sally that should make her an absolute mess AND IT DOES!

The damsel in distress trope....that pisses me off so much. I agree with the graphic SA & r**e scenes, being a survivor of both growing up. I fast forward that sh**. Also agree with the fresh makeup & hair done look after fighting or falling into something, like yeh ok lol

I really feel like SA is just used for shock or an easy way to give a character a sad backstory and not caring about about how horrible SA is and what it does to the victims this applies to all media not just horror it's just like giving a character dead parents and not developing on that fact but so much worse. It's just unnecessary and cruel especially since it's always towards women in these forms of media.

I know I'm late to this but I was JUST reminded of another one I hate: flashing lights! Horror movies, games, analog horror, everything just LOVES to put flashing lights in our faces. I don't have epilepsy but it's still fucking annoying

For the longest time I always hated when horror movies used those scenes where the character closes the bathroom mirror and there's someone behind them, but now I feel like they will still use that, but not have someone behind so they trick us.
